Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing
Department of
Department of Real Estate, Planning and Geoinformatics
The
Department of Real Estate, Planning and Geoinformatics provides the only university-level education
for surveyors in Finland.
Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing are technologies of
measurement, observation and control within the science of surveying
and mapping. Basically, all
activity is based on images used for both acquiring and managing
geoinformation.
The applications include environmental monitoring with satellite
imagery,
large-scale urban mapping with areal imagery, 3D virtual modeling of
buildings,
industrial plants, and natural environment. The number of researchers on a
pay-roll is about 15 persons, some of us being active postgraduates as
well.
The
Chair of Photogrammetry was established in
1957. Since 1994, the Institute has been chaired by Prof. Dr. Henrik
Haggrén. Read
