Files ssf.cls and ssf.bst can be placed in your working directory (where your documents are) or in the appropriate system directories. In the latter case, for the tetex distribution, you have to run texhash as root.
If you use LyX, you have to put ssf.layout into the layouts directory (system or local user) and run reconfigure from LyX. Then, start LyX anew to make the configuration take effect.
Your class definition should be
\documentclass{ssf} for SSF.
\documentclass[finnish]{ssf} for mm.
\documentclass[esitelma]{ssf} for a presentation at the
Maanmittaustieteiden Päivät or other A4 format
Proceedings type collection.
LyXissä valitse tarpeen mukaan "finnish" dokumentin kielenä ja laita tarvittaessa "esitelma" (ei ä!) dokumentin lisäoptiona.
In LyX, you choose "finnish" as language when appropriate, and exter "esitelma" (no ä!) as extra option when appropriate.
