Cartographic interpretation of image no. 21 in the image division. Jabal Haroun locates on upper right corner where Aron's shrine can be seen as a white spot. Nearby and west of Jabal Haroun on the plateau locates Monestry of Aron, which is the excavation site of Finnish Jabal Haroun Project. The mountain in the center of the image is called Jabal Farasha . The wadis are well identifiable, whereas the roads and paths are hard and need local experience. The interpretation was part of excercises at HUT Course on "Maa-57.220 Photogrammetric Mapping" and was done by Kati Tahvonen in Fall 2001.
The image was divided into nine pieces and indexed accordingly. Each
peace covered an area of about 4 x 4 km and was excactly located upon its
lower left and upper right corner. Each peace had an overlap of about 0,5
km with its neighbour.
