Camera calibration by rotation

The main idea of this method was to rotate the camera around its projection centre and derive the calibration parameters based on the captured images. In the calibration calculations, the camera constant, principal point coordinates and the lens distortion parameters are solved. The objective of this study was to find out the feasibility of the method in practice. The presented method was tested with synthetic and real data. Due to the simple mathematical model (only rotations between the images) the calculations converged to the correct solutions even though very weak initial values for the unknown camera parameters were used.
